Our special sauce is combining creator talent who grew up on the Roblox platform with creatives and operators with decades of experience building consumer brands and telling stories in creative ways. The Supersocial team combines deep Roblox expertise with AAA experience and creative storytellers who, together, design cutting edge experiences that feels authentic to metaverse communities.
How you’ll make an impact
As a VFX Artist, you will play a pivotal role in creating captivating and memorable visual effects for our games and experiences. You will collaborate closely with our art and design teams to enhance gameplay experiences and immerse players in our virtual worlds. Your creative flair, technical expertise, and attention to detail will be essential in delivering top-tier visual effects that set our games and experiences apart on the platform.
You’ll enjoy this role if you can…
Design, create, and implement a wide range of visual effects, including but not limited to particle systems, environmental effects, character abilities, and dynamic simulations.
Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and engineers to ensure that visual effects align with the overall game vision, art style, and gameplay requirements.
Utilize industry-standard tools and software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Maya, Houdini, Unreal) to develop and optimize visual effects for real-time rendering.
Maintain a high standard of quality by testing and iterating on visual effects, ensuring they are visually impressive, performant, and bug-free.
Optimize visual effects to ensure they run smoothly across various platforms while maintaining the desired visual impact.
Create clear and concise documentation for visual effects, including guidelines and best practices for the art and engineering teams.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and techniques related to visual effects to continually improve and innovate our game visuals.
Qualifications
Must Have
Proven experience as a VFX Artist in the gaming industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools for VFX creation and integration.
Strong understanding of game engines (e.g. Unreal) and their VFX pipelines.
Excellent artistic and technical skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
Solid understanding of physics, motion, and animation principles.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize visual effects for performance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have
Experience with Roblox Studio and how VFX are utilized on the Roblox platform.
Familiarity with 3D modeling and texturing tools (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Painter).
Knowledge of dynamic simulation software (e.g., Houdini).
